這首歌的歌詞讓我好難去推敲後面的故事啊～
同樣一句的歌詞，每個人聽起來都有不同的含義。
在這邊我就以我個人的理解來做翻譯與解釋了。

歌詞在述說一個男孩與女孩之間戀情的結束。
男生對於他之前所犯下的錯感到十分的後悔。
或許是因為那個女生以自殺來結束了自己的性命，也或許是因為其他的原因導致這段戀情的終結，不管如何，男孩都覺得是因為他自己所犯下的過錯，所以他因此每晚都不得安眠。
而他一直想彌補或是置換那些曾經的錯誤，使其消失，但已經來不及了。

因為歌詞中暗喻的地方實在有點多，在翻譯的歌詞後，有我自己理解的歌詞背後的故事。歡迎其他人提出自己對於這首歌的看法喔！

【歌詞翻譯解析＋猜測】

Placing a smile at the perfect event
Gracing your skin with the side of my hand
If I ever leave I could learn to miss you
But "Sentimental Boy" is my nom de plume
這一段都是用一些小細節，像是看場合的微笑、用他的手側去襯托女伴的肌膚等等，表現出他內心是個Sentimental Boy。

Let me save you, hold this rope

I may never sleep tonight
As long as you're still burning bright
burning bright表示女孩還在男孩的記憶裡，非常的清晰，回憶絢爛地想忘都忘不掉。
而只要男孩還記得她、還記得他們之間的種種，他就永遠不能安睡。
If I could trade mistakes for sheep
Count me away before you sleep
sheep，這邊是指有些人在睡前會數的羊。
而男孩是希望能夠將他以前犯的錯交換成這些羊，讓女孩能在睡前將這些錯誤數走，就像數羊時，羊跳過圍籬一樣遠離女孩。

Or they fade away

I feel marooned in this body
Deserted, my organs can go on without me
男孩覺得受困在自己的身體裡，孤立無援，什麼事都不能做。
就好像他的心智或是靈魂已死，只剩下他的肉體還活著一樣。
You can't fly these wings
這邊揣測女孩可能已經死亡，而且有可能是自殺而死的，所以不會有翅膀、不會是天使。
You can't sleep in this box with me
這邊box我認為有兩個意思。
一方有可能是延續上一句，女孩自殺所以不能與男孩葬在同一個棺木裡。
而另一方面有可能是指男孩不想要女孩與他一樣感到受困在這種走不出傷痛的情感中。

I may never sleep tonight...(略)

So let me save you
個人覺得若不看歌詞，在聽歌的時候，這句聽起來比較像是Don't let me save you，完全相反的意思呢。
Hold this rope and I'll pull you in
'Cause I am an anchor
Save her or feel it sinking in
男孩希望女孩抓著繩子爬上去，而他將會拉她進船內，一個不會讓她受到傷害的地方。
男孩說他是個船錨，救她自己，並讓自己向下沉。
Let me save you, hold this rope
男孩不停地希望自己能夠救這個女孩。
I am an anchor, sinking her
而男孩後來意識到，他不但沒有救到女孩，反而害死了她。
